ounded in 1925, the MoASSP Board of Directors has remained committed to advocating for best educational practices locally, state-wide, and nationally while expanding benefits and services to members.

MoASSP represents secondary school principals by working closely with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, the Missouri State High School Activities Association, the Missouri Legislature, the National Association of Secondary School Principals, and the Missouri Education Round Table. MoASSP members serve on a variety of committees to represent principals’ views.  As groups meet to discuss educational issues the secondary principals’ voice often provides a voice of reason and moderation.  While open to creative ideas, principals may offer a unique perspective of what will realistically work in a school of 100 or 2,000 students.

MoASSP provides professional development opportunities for building level leaders through annual conferences and workshops. The association sponsors the Missouri Scholars 100 Program to recognize outstanding high school seniors.  In cooperation with eight regional associations there are monthly or quarterly meetings that provide great networking opportunities as well as information on topics of interest to administrators.

MoASSP represents principals in Jefferson City.  Annually there are approximately 200 education related bills introduced.  Whether it’s providing direct testimony, arranging for member principals to testify, or providing information to legislators and to lobbyists, MoASSP is working to represent all middle level and high school principals. In cooperation with other educational associations MoASSP belongs to the School Administrators Coalition and during the legislative session frequent email updates keep members informed on legislative hearings and actions.

Through the National Association of Secondary School Principals, Missouri principals have an added level of support and multiple benefits and services including professional development opportunities, peer networking, multiple publications, online research, and protection through professional liability coverage and optional insurance offerings.
